Diverse Workplace Challenges of Filipino Seafarer: A basis for Crew Welfare Program

The purpose of this research is to benefit both current and future seafarers, such as the researchers. This study was also done by the researchers to distribute the essential information to both the industry’s participants and non-participants. Students can learn about the difficulties that they may face if they choose to work on a cruise ship by reading this. Furthermore, this study is for our Filipino crew members, to be the voice all the things they would like to change about the cruise and come up with a solution. The descriptive qualitative method was utilized in this study to interpret and describe Filipino seafarer perspectives. In conclusion, the results describes that the common challenge onboard are the following: Discrimination, Different nationalities, Cultural Differences, Homesick, Mentally Unstable.
This study aims to know the recommendations of every person who works inside the cruise ship especially Filipino seafarers, and to give notice for the things that the cruise line industry need to improve. It is also conducted by the researchers to spread important information to the people involved and are part of this industry.
