Safety and Security issues and Threats in Selected Hotels in Pampanga

Hotel increases their attractiveness and competitiveness to increase also the number of guests. Unfortunately, the hotel industry is highly vulnerable in terms of safety and security threats. They always strive to maintain safety and security to improve their business performance and to generate maximum revenue. This is only possible if the guest had a pleasant stay in the hotel without having any issues or complaints related to the hotel. Safety and security measures implemented by the hotels should be efficient enough and updated. The researcher investigated the safety and security of selected hotels in Pampanga.

A sample of 100 respondents was used for the study and the instrument that the researchers chose was a descriptive survey using adapted questionnaires which belongs to Nnaemeka Daniel Agbasiere (2018). The questionnaire was a structured type consisting of 25 items in four different clusters A, B, C, and D and each cluster had 5 items. The question in every hotel attribute in safety and security is interrelated to each cluster. Cluster A sought information on the safety and security threats in hotels. Custer B is connected to Cluster A which sought information on the causes of the identified safety and security threats. Cluster C sought information on the state of the existing safety and security measures while Cluster D sought information on the ways of improving safety and security standards in the hotels. All the clusters of the questionnaire were structured on a 4-point scale of strongly agree (4), agree (3), disagree (2), and completely disagree (1). The data collected were analyzed using the mean and standard deviation of independent samples.

The findings of the study revealed that hotel guests agreed that there are no safety and security issues and threats in these selected hotels with an overall mean of 3.10 and a standard deviation of 0.91. The guest strongly agreed on ways of improving safety and security standards in the hotels. Thus, the study recommended this hotel attributes in safety and security that there should be additional security operatives, there should be constant update on modern security gadgets and best practices, constant monitoring of people activities and efficient CCTV cameras in the hotel, there should be available information about the emergency action plan in case of a bomb explosion and establishing appropriate contagious disease control measures.
