Author/s

Merceditas E. Dela Cruz

Abstract:

Plastic waste management continues to pose a significant challenge in the Philippines, often overlooked even within the controlled environment of educational institutions where waste management is supposed to be practiced. The persistence of improper waste disposal and segregation reflects a widespread lack of awareness among the population. This problem increases environmental degradation and affects the average Filipino. The study examines plastic waste management practices in the seven (7) cafeteria concessionaires of Adamson University, Manila, Philippines. This research aims to assess and improve plastic waste management practices, focusing on vendors’ awareness and engagement. The researchers used a descriptive correlational method to collect data from Adamson University’s cafeteria concessionaires. Our findings highlight a notable discrepancy between awareness and adherence. The result revealed a high level of awareness regarding sustainable waste management practices among respondents. However, a significant gap between awareness and adherence was identified, particularly in areas of waste reduction and utilization, this understanding often failed to translate into practice. This gap aligns with the previous research on Filipino college students’ waste management behaviors, key issues include inadequate waste segregation and recycling initiatives, suggesting systemic issues in the need for more comprehensive sustainable waste management policies. This research emphasizes the need for Adamson University’s Cafeteria to move beyond simply raising awareness about sustainability and actively integrate it into the university’s culture and daily operations. The research holds importance as it has the ability to address the gap between awareness of environmental issues and action in educational institutions. By concentrating on the university cafeteria as a small-scale food business, this study highlights the role that higher education plays in encouraging responsible environmental behavior and provides insights that can be applied to a larger community. Adamson University’s cafeteria is aware of the fundamentals of sustainable waste management, the cafeteria still needs to put more thorough and useful plans into practice. By implementing the recommended strategies given as an output, the university may lower its plastic waste and set an example for other university institutions. Lastly, this study demonstrates how academic institutions may take the lead in reducing plastic trash in the community at large as well as on campus.

Anna Marie R. Nepomuceno

Abstract:

This research aims to look at the acceptability level among the respondents on Rabbit meat as an alternative meat for processed and meat products such as Tocino, Sisig, and Morcon and its implication to the Market Success of Products among selected Kapampangan respondents in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga Specifically, this research would like to identify the following: 1.) Demographic profile of the respondents; 2.) Level of acceptability of the respondents on rabbit processed meat in terms of sensory characteristics, price, nutritional value, and culture; and 3.) Relationship of the respondent’s demographic profile and its level of acceptability of rabbit meat as an alternative meat source. In order to see the general picture, a total of 65 researcher-made survey questionnaires were used. The first part was the demographic profile of the respondents, and the second part was their perception of the acceptability of rabbit meat as an alternative source for consumption. The study also used simple random sampling in determining the samples of the study. Kampampangan residents were the respondents to the study. Based on the results, the sensory characteristics of rabbit meat, price, and nutritional value in terms of Tocino, Sisig, and Morcon are acceptable to respondents; thus, there is a great potential to commercialize rabbit meat in the area, although culture-resulting indicators are slightly and somehow some were not acceptable. Pearson’s r also covered a significant relationship in Age, Gender, and Educational Level towards the acceptance of the consumers since the p-value is greater than 0.05. This implies that based on the factors mentioned—Sensory, Price, Nutritional Value, and Culture, Rabbit meat is accepted as Tocino, Sisig, and Morcon servings by the general consumers which can be considered an alternative meat for the aforementioned local cuisine or as an alternative source of different nutritional values. It is recommended that breeders of rabbit meat should continuously educate the public on rabbit meat consumption through advertisements on social media focusing on the different ways to cook rabbit meat in different cuisines. To counter the declining consumption of this valuable meat, reassuring discourses are required to point out its historical merit in health and culture. Also, its distinctive sensorial traits, nutritional profile, and technological properties should be valorized. The need for consumer information, especially on the health benefits of rabbit meat, is crucial to eradicating negative notions about eating rabbit meat.

Camacho, Rocky Jay G.

Our Lady of Fatima University, Pampanga

Abstract:

The tourism industry encompasses various sectors, with the event sector being a significant component. Within this sector, weddings are a distinct type of event, characterized by their special, planned, personal, and private nature. Selecting the perfect wedding venue is a pivotal decision for couples, often influenced by a variety of key attributes. This descriptive-correlational study aimed to determine and assess the influence of wedding attributes in venue selection in the province of Pampanga. Respondents of the study were selected using a stratified sampling method. Specifically, it determined the demographic profile of respondents along with age, residence, and occupation. It also assessed how wedding attributes influence venue selection along with price, service, location, and facility. The respondents were sixty (60) residents in the province of Pampanga. The data gathered were treated statistically using frequencies, mean, standard deviation, and Analysis of Variance. It was found that older adults prefer venues with classic or elegant features, which makes sense given their stage of life and financial situation. The smaller age groups, 24-29 and 30-34, on the other hand, favour contemporary, fashionable, or reasonably priced locations. This emphasizes how important it is for venues to provide a range of pricing points and styles to accommodate various age groups. Moreover, Price—especially the venue’s cost—was found to be the most important factor, with the availability of payment options being less important. Regarding service, the capacity of the venue to withstand inclement weather was deemed less important by respondents than general facility upkeep and cleanliness. When it came to location, having a venue that could fit the wedding theme was very important, but having proper signage and directions wasn’t as crucial. In terms of amenities, having a honeymoon suite on the property was not as important as having safe and secure amenities. Furthermore, preferences for facilities, location, price, and services were not substantially influenced by age. Furthermore, there was no discernible effect of residence on these choices. Employment, on the other hand, was found to have a significant impact on location and price preferences, but not on service or facility preferences. This shows that respondents’ priorities regarding price and location when selecting wedding venues are influenced by their occupation, even though age and place of residence do not appear to be very important factors.

Abstract:

This study demonstrates the significance of travel experiences after visiting the Pawikan Conservation Center (PCC), view as in terms of post-travel experiences, perceived values, tour quality and destination image. In order to understand these factors, the study aims to put a foundation for a proposed marketing plan which will enhance visitor engagement and satisfaction. A quantitative correlational research design was employed where survey forms were used to collect data from visitors of PCC. Differences between post-travel experiences, perceived values, tour quality and destination image among various demographic groups were analyzed by using statistical analysis that included t-tests and ANOVA. The findings enabled identification of significant predictors of revisit intentions thereby facilitating development of targeted marketing strategies.

The results illustrate that post-travel experience, perceived benefits, tour quality and destination image have significant influence on the revisit intention of tourists towards PCC. This is further evident when tourists aged 40-50 revealed higher perceived benefits which imply the need for age-based marketing to boost their repeat visitation rates. Furthermore, no notable gender dissimilarities were realized which means that marketing strategies can be standardized for both male and female individuals. Thus, good quality tours/ trips; as well as maintaining a positive destination image are paramount in encouraging repeaters.

PCC should implement a few strategies to leverage these findings. Post-travel interest can be maintained through the development of educational modules that address different aspects of marine conservation. By offering unique experiences like behind-the-scenes tours and hatchling releases, perceived value can be increased. Quality customer service and facility modernization would enhance overall tour quality. Having strong feedback mechanisms facilitates continuous improvements in PCC’s operations. Lastly, use social media, collaborate with eco-influencers and strategic partnerships to improve image and attract diverse audience for PCC. These are guidelines meant to increase revisit intentions for long-term sustainability of PCC’s conservancy efforts.
