
This study investigated the effect of studying foreign language to the global competitiveness of tourism students. The researcher hypothesized that there might be a difference in the four areas of competitiveness: Cognitive, Motivational, Social, and Career. The research design of this present study is quantitative – descriptive method and assessment or evaluation studies. Non-probability sampling was utilized, and 110 of tourism students who are studying foreign language were asked to participate in this study by answering the survey questionnaire provided by the researchers. There was significant difference in between cognitive, motivational, social, and career areas to the global competitiveness of tourism students who study foreign languages (f(3)=3.50, p=0.02). Nevertheless, the level of effectiveness to the areas of competitiveness of tourism students who are studying foreign language shows that Cognitive area has very high level (x 4.59), Motivational area has very high level (x 4.38), Social area has very high level (x 4.67), and lastly Career area has very high level (x 4.55). Therefore, the researcher found that there was not much difference with the level of effectiveness in competitiveness of tourism students especially with cognitive, motivational, social, and career areas in terms of studying foreign languages
