
The hospitality industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. In the Philippines, the government is determined to showcase different destionation in the country to attract local and foreign tourists. As a tourism prospers, food and beverage businesses take a leap to take advantage of the opportunity. The study focused on the perceived emotional intelligence toward their trainers in food and beverage setting during their internship. The objective of the study is to determine te perceived emotional intelligence of the trainers using five dimensions namely self-awareness, motivation, self-regulation, empathy, and social skills by their trainees in food and beverage establishment in Metro Manila. A purposive sample composed of 252 trainees and 59 trainers who did the assessment/self-assessment using the adopted Emotional Intelligence survey questionnaire by Anaptys which was used in the Mid-Central District Transformational Leadership Program in the US in 2013. Results of the study can be utilized in the creation of leadership programs for HRM students that focus of emotional intelligence as well as help identify pathways for trainers at partner establishments for better delivery of practicum training programs.
