The Work Immersion Program of the Faculty in the College of Hospitality and Institutional Management in Higher Education as Basis for Improving Teacher Skills

The work immersion program of the faculty, or faculty immersion, is a certification program aimed at providing faculty with the tools to take their instructional skills to the next level. This program aims to help and support educators who need and want it. The purpose of this paper is not to instruct what our professors should do to improve their teaching skills, but to proudly share with the aspirants of the hospitality industry that the knowledge and skills that they have been receiving are the result of the earned work effort that educators undergo, since it’s a choice that educators make. Also, to appreciate and wholeheartedly support our beloved educators of the industry who undergo this training for them to be able to share knowledge and skills with their students, that is the future of the hospitality industry. A total of 35 respondents were gathered in this study, which are the faculty members from Our Lady of Fatima University—Valenzuela City campus and Lyceum of Alabang. To evaluate the effectiveness, quality of teaching, experiences, and other defined variables, quantitative research was used, as well as to generalize the results from the population. Snowball sampling techniques were used to select respondents that could provide information to attain the objectives of the study. The research instrument used is a four-point Likert Scale from which the total score will be calculated, such as Strongly Agree, Agree, Neither Agree or Disagree, and Disagree. The result of this study emphasizes how effective work immersion is in improving the skills of every faculty member. The findings of this study show that there is no significant relationship between the work immersion program and the level of improvement of teacher skills in the college of hospitality and institutional management in higher education. It is an individual choice for a faculty member to participate in the work immersion program since everyone has their own way of improving their skills and development.
